Campaign time guide

How Long to Beat STAR WARS Zero Company?

EA estimates that most players will finish the main story in about 30–40 hours. STAR WARS Zero Company only released on August 27, 2026, however, so there is not yet a mature set of complete, independently measured playthroughs. A dependable all-content or completionist range is therefore still unavailable.

Campaign length estimates

The official main-story guidance is useful for scheduling, but it is not the same thing as a large database of finished player runs. The all-content row remains deliberately broad because operations can expire, choices can reveal different side missions, and the launch is too recent for a stable completionist average.

Play styleCurrent planning rangeConfidence
Main storyAbout 30–40 hoursOfficial EA estimate; individual times vary by difficulty and tactics experience.
Story plus selected side contentMore than 30–40 hoursNo complete measured data yet; the amount depends on Operations, conversations, and retries.
All-content or completionist runNo dependable range yetNo complete measured data yet, and some choices may require another campaign.

Use 30–40 hours as a main-campaign budget rather than a deadline. The lower end is more plausible for a confident tactics player moving steadily through critical missions; a careful first run with side investigations, squad management, and repeated fights can extend beyond the official range.

How long is the main story?

EA’s current guidance puts the main story at roughly 30–40 hours for most players, with difficulty and previous experience in turn-based tactics named as the main variables.

That estimate covers more than combat maps. Zero Company moves through campaign cycles at The Den, where Hawks selects Operations and Tactical Missions, manages the squad, and handles narrative choices. A critical mission may advance the central conflict with the Infinite Coil, while an Operation can award resources, add story context, or open another opportunity. Time at the holotable and in squad conversations belongs to the campaign even when no shots are fired.

A first playthrough is also a learning run. Reading ability descriptions, understanding Action Points, testing Overwatch angles, and comparing Specializations can make the opening hours slower than the middle of the game. A player familiar with tactical positioning may decide quickly; someone new to the genre can spend several minutes evaluating a turn that an experienced player resolves almost immediately.

How long does a completionist run take?

There is no reliable completionist total yet. The game is newly released, and “all content” is harder to define than finishing the critical story path.

Operations can expire, narrative dilemmas can branch, and Bonds or side missions may depend on choices and squad relationships. That means a thorough first campaign can see a great deal without necessarily exhausting every alternative. If two decisions are mutually exclusive, a second run may be required to experience both, so one save’s timer cannot represent every possible scene and outcome.

Collectibles, optional objectives, achievements, character builds, and conversations also need to be separated when players report completion. A “100 percent” time based only on trophies may differ from a lore-focused run that reads every available report. Until full campaigns document what they counted, any precise completionist number would suggest confidence the current evidence does not support.

What changes your playtime?

Difficulty, tactical experience, optional operations, squad conversations, permadeath choices, retries, and the amount of customization all move the final clock.

Higher difficulty usually lengthens both planning and recovery. Tougher enemy groups make positioning more important, while a failed objective can lead to a restart. Permadeath creates another fork: accepting an Operator’s loss may keep the clock moving but alter later squad options, whereas reloading to save that character adds time immediately. The feature is enabled by default but can be turned off, so two otherwise similar runs may have very different rhythms.

Optional engagement matters just as much. A direct player can prioritize critical missions and make quick upgrade choices. A more exploratory player may investigate every available lead, build Bonds deliberately, adjust loadouts before each deployment, create custom Operators, and listen to all hub dialogue. Neither style is incorrect, but comparing their totals without describing the behavior produces a misleading average.

How to plan your first campaign

Reserve time in mission-sized sessions and treat 30–40 hours as a flexible campaign budget, not a promise that the final scene will arrive at a particular hour.

A useful schedule leaves room to finish a Tactical Mission rather than stopping during a complex enemy encounter. Between-mission work at The Den is a natural shorter session: review the holotable, heal or rotate Operators, adjust equipment, and decide which lead matters next. If an evening is nearly over, handling that preparation can be more satisfying than rushing into a mission with no time to think.

Track your own run by category if you want to compare it later. Note the chosen difficulty, whether permadeath stayed enabled, how many missions were restarted, and whether you pursued optional content. Those details explain why a total falls below or above 30–40 hours far better than the number alone. They also help separate active play from time left paused in menus.

Why early player times vary so much

Launch-week reports come from a small, uneven group: reviewers, genre veterans, fast story players, and explorers are not measuring the same type of campaign.

Some early players arrive after years of squad tactics games and recognize cover, flanking, and action-economy problems on sight. Others are here primarily for the Clone Wars story and need time to learn the genre. Review schedules can also encourage a quicker critical path, while a personal playthrough may linger on character creation and conversations that a deadline-driven run compresses.

As more players reach the ending, the main-story range can be compared with real totals and completion categories can become clearer. For now, the official estimate is the strongest main-path benchmark, while a precise all-content average remains unsupported. “No complete measured data yet” is a description of the sample, not a claim that no one has finished the game.

Read the spoiler-light premise before starting, or compare gameplay and difficulty to see which systems are most likely to move your personal completion time.
